GATINEAU, Que. A grocery store assault that turned deadly has residents fuming.
Paul Hines, the man who intervened in a robbery at the IGA store in Aylmer, a suburb of Gatineau, died earlier this week.
Not like anyone who posted on the news site will read it here but just had to object somewhere about the comments being made about Alymer being such a aweful place. In fact we loved it there and found it much much nicer to live and safer than Ottawa, where we had also lived in the past. LIke a small town but close to big town conveniences. I lived a few blocks from the IGA there. In Winnipeg (sadly) I'd expect this but in Alymer its eath shattering for people who live there. Kill someone for $2.99, morons!
So when you assault someone so badly, he slips into a coma, you just get released? Just make the promise you show up in court? REALLY?? Then a week later, the victim dies, and you are not arrested?
RIP, Mr. Hines, I wish your wife of 33 years, your children and grandchild all the strength to find a way to deal with this terrible loss.
Stealing them from someone's house on Halloween and stacking them on the local High School sports field bleachers is. Smashing them is, killing for them....well not really. Getting crap time in jail for it, now that's Canadian. Go Us!

These two enlightened bastions of Canadian Society have yet to meet a criminal they couldn't love.
I'm glad to see that the judicial system now considers what most of polite society would consider murder............. a misdomeaner.
