    You got the first part right, but the second part is a crock of shit.

    Two years ago, for the second time, a jury found Effert guilty of second-degree murder, but last May the province's highest court decided the jury made a mistake.


    Next week, the court will hear arguments on a remaining issue from Effert's long legal battle: the two weeks and two days of jail time she still must serve for throwing her baby's body over the fence.

    Her lawyer, Peter Royal, asked the court to do away with the penalty or allow her to serve the time on weekends. It was "unjust" and "almost mean to incarcerate her" at this point, he argued.


    Everybody is a victim, except the victim.

    No he don't. There was a case in Cambridge ON a few years back where some woman's boyfriend ended up killing her 2 year old. He only got 3 years, which means he probably only served one.

    Apparently murdering kids isn't a big deal in this country unless you sexually assault them first. :roll:

    I'd like to see a link for this, because he obviously wasn't convicted of murder.

    With a 2 yr old, infanticide would not be an available verdict - so a deliberate killing such as this would be murder 2 or 1. Infanticide is for babies under one year and only applicable for women. Many in the legal profession have called for revocation of this law.
