Should have pulled a Jim Morrison and sang the original lyrics then claimed that it was an accident caused by repetitive memory.

But on the plus side she's finally joined some elite company that the BBC has censured. Unfortunately this is more about the BBC being a bunch of politically correct asshats than her singing about Jesus.

There are an awful lot of songs with the word "Jesus in them.

They're going to ban them all?

Is "God Save the Queen" now politically incorrect? How is the Beeb going to steer around that reef?

Honestly, I'm starting to feel that this trend toward censorship is one of the greatest dangers facing western society. Just keep hearing too many people talking about not wanting to offend any of their listeners/customers/voters whatever.

Jeez (oops) wonder what they'd do with these lyrics:

$1:
What if God was one of us?
Just a slob like one of us
Just a stranger on the bus
Trying to make His way home
If God had a face
What would it look like?

Get all three, well at lest two, of the Abrahamic religions all in a tizzy.

Well nobody died when it made airplay. Always liked those lyrics. Didn't realize it was Alanis Morissette.

The issue seem to be a general problem with all of the Abrahamic faiths ... that each believes they have a monopoly on the absolute truth.

You miss the point.

See, if she had written, " I wish he was Mohamed, he would get on his flying carpet and blah blah ", remembering mohamed can't be a girl.

that would be fine for the BBC.

It isn't PC, it is an active campaign to remove any form of Christianity from the UK.

I guess Depeche Mode's song Personal Jesus must be public enemy #1 for the BBC.

Oh no. Mocking Jesus will still be allowed. Loving Jesus is what's offensive.

It's not. It's Joan Osborne.

That's going to be hard, considering Anglican Christianity is the state religion of England.

Funny the interpretation this is getting on this board, because reading the story the lyric change seems to be about not offending Christians. I guess you can twist anything to suit your views.

Right you are Andy. It appears, at least from the article, that it was a concern about bring blasphemous, thus offending Christians. It appears to have offended the easily offended instead.
