Oh oh. You di'nt. Those boys weren't harassed, they were sexually abused by an authority figure.

Sorry. You're right. Dutch moment early on in the day, and couldn't find the right word.

That said, [sarcasm ON]those boys were 14, 15, so they liked it.

And that figure was male - I doubt Herbie would be all in favor of a 25 yr old priest (or any male) having sex with a 14 y o boy. Whole different ball game and another double standard.

Same ballgame. Who says they weren't gay? Who cares what the pavement looked like?

raydan raydan:
Unless everything has changed since I was that age, boys and girls view sex differently. For a boy, sex was an end, everything else was a means of getting to that end. For girls, sex was a means of getting what they wanted. I am kidding... but I'm not that far off from the truth.

I think that is true all through life.
Women often see sex as a chore, when their relationship outside the bedroom is not all that, while men see it as some form of relief, and the more (or the better the) sex, the better the relationship.

Women often see sex as a tool, while for men, it is the finished product...

In reality, kids should explore among themselves.

I remember reading a book where young boys and girls coming of age were given an older, experienced lover for their first experience... kinda like a mentoring program... The Clan of the Cave Bear maybe? I wouldn't be surprised if this actually happened in some of our societies in the past.

Men taking their 16 year old sons to a hooker to lose their virginity... It is still done in the West.

Not really what I was thinking, hookers aren't there to teach.
I'm glad my father didn't pay me one.

By "West" I hope you mean Nevada where the hookers are legal and monitored for STD's.

Taking your 16 year old son to a hooker should be considered child endangerment.

We've had lots of cases where an adult male forms a strong relationship with an underage girl. So, should this be OK? The girl is getting her needs met for attachment (as well as status for being with an older guy). Herbie and anybody else arguing for it being OK for young guy/older woman, how about my example - are you for that too?

Nobody is arguing it's OK they're arguing it's not abnormal.
And here you are arguing that though you know 14 year olds are not "innocent" there must be a law and it must be the same as if they were 10 years old.
In this case, if the woman was the spouse, there is and always has been a law regarding 'authority figures'. Use THAT law. If she was just his gf, then either snigger or tsk tsk about it and let it go.
He was a stupid horn dog and she was a moron slut. No law is gonna fix either of them.

So if a random 25 year old authority figure has sex with a 14 year old, it's not ok, but if it is just the neighbour, it is?

I'm thinking EVERY 25 year old has authority over a 14 year old, just because they are adults.

Complete bullshit. We need a law that protects young people from sexual exploitation by adults. If that catches some adults who didn't actually do harm to the kid, too fucking bad. They're adults and should know better. I fully supported the CPC raising the age to 16. And throw a guy in jail as a sex offender and make him register, but to snigger if it's a woman who does it - now that's something to snigger about.

Just a note as per Brenda's post on page #1: it is the law that we all must report instances of suspected child abuse. There is no confidentially on that matter, expect perhaps lawyer/client privilege. If you mention to your doctor, dentist, shrink that you, as an adult, have been sexual with a child under the age of 16, they must report it. Same as if you came on this forum we would be obligated to report a similar post about the suspected abuse of a child to the authorities.

16 states have a similar law, 48 states & most US territories outline professions which must report (teachers, doctors, day care workers, social workers etc...) - the other two states have an all encompassing law that all citizens must report.

And I'm sure you'll keep supporting it when there's tens of thousands of high school seniors who are registered sex offenders for sleeping with their gf/bfs who were high school juniors.
My ex was one of those in 1970. She wasn't quite 16 and her bf was almost 19. Fortunately they didn't have a registry in those days. Marry her and we'll let you out of jail.
Watch for the reruns, coming soon to a neighbourhood near you.

That is a 2, maybe 3 year difference. MUCH different from 11 years when the younger one is not allowed to drive a car yet.

15 and 17 is pretty on par. 14 and 25 IS NOT.
