Thanos Thanos: BRAH BRAH: Thanos Thanos: Yeah, it was real macho of him to destabilize an already dangerous situation to the point where nuclear war is now as much of a strong possibility as it was back when the Cold War was still in effect. Way to go, MAGAs, with your absolutely brilliant choice of leadership and sense of responsibility to the world and all. ____________________ Yes, all those children in Hawaii that are now probably permanently traumatized thanks to the destabilization your moron hero decided to create are worthy of a round of meme-laughs. Good confirmation that while Trump is the biggest turd in the gutter that he isn't alone there at all. He's happily surrounded by those multitudes of lesser turds who still cheer him on every time he fucks someone else over. Yeah the Hawaiian false alarm is Trump's fault, you need help.

Yeah, it is his fault because he destabilized an already dangerous situation on purpose. The false alarm is the fault of whatever bureaucratic shlub who fucked up and typed in the wrong command on the EMS. The overall meta of blame though? That is 100% entirely the fault of that evil bastard you worship.
Take some fucking responsibility already for what's happening and for what's going to happen. This is far beyond posting wrasslin' gifs just because you think chaos and pure corruption is somehow hilarious.

The latest conspiracy theory has Trump and some compliant Trumpadista planting the missile alert as part of the "art of some deal" or to otherwise leverage public opinion. I think that it is nonsense ...
... and yet, the old George Dubya administration played games like that. Remember the "alert" system?
"Orange Alert! Orange Alert! Colin Powell has satellite photos of milk trucks that we're obviously converted into bio-weapons factories!!"
"Red Alert!! Red Alert!! Positive Intel says Saddam's hand is hovering RIGHT OVER THE BIG RED LAUNCH BUTTON (in Arabic).
RED ALERT !!!"
... and the rubes ate it up. It didn't seem to occur to many just who was generating the alerts and why. It sure as hell wasn't based on any Intel of any kind, now was it?

In a world where people take this kind of tragicomical hysterical idiocy seriously there's little hope of rationality and reason ever coming back to win the day. Seriously, it's on the same intellectual level as this: We're fucked. The situation, and the entire damn world at that, simply is not going to ever get better.

martin14 martin14: As long as the guy who did this and his boss keep their jobs, you are correct. Nothing for the boss, the guy will be 'retrained'. Democrats. $1: Oh give it a break. You would be the first and loudest one crying and screaming if it was a Red State. You approve of all the staff keeping their jobs, nothing to see here.[/quote] These are not politicians, these are just rank and file employees. This isn’t a left-right Repub-Dem issue; not everything has to be part of your political jihad with capital punishment for the infidels. If someone deliberately broke the rules they should be punished but if just part of “shit happens” unknown program deficiency then all that needs to happen is identify and fix the deficiency and make sure it doesn’t happen again.

You mean when Dubya kicked off the Iranian and North Korean weapons programs by recklessly including them in his degenerate Axis Of Evil speech and existentially justifying their need to acquire nukes to protect themselves from the United States? Right, got ya.

Don't confuse him with facts Thanos. Next you'll have to explain that those tears he likes to sip are really the sweat from Slick Willy's scrotum.

Then Obama did this: And when Iran decides to nuke Israel, or wherever because "Death to America" you just know the Progpods are going to be told and will, of course, obediently believe it's because some republican said something nasty about them or finally moved the embassy to Jerusalem, or South Park did a cartoon of the Ayatollah on a goat.

Pretty sure that when a nuke goes off in an American city it'll be courtesy of a group sponsored and financed and organized by the US's BEST FRIENDS EVER in Saudi Arabia, just like all the major terrorist incidents against American have been. Pays to know the difference between Shiites and Sunnis, doncha know, but this isn't an age for trivial details like that anymore. Details don't mean jack in the MEME WAR! to claim the support of the poorly educated and whatnot.

Something that occurred to me with this is whether or not there is an official emergency plan in place in case this becomes a reality, which sadly, is a realistic possibility.
The reason I mention it is because there has been much news coverage of it where media people have spoken to tourists from Canada and the US who were there at the time and commented that when they asked at their hotels "where do we go?" "what do we do?" they were met with uncertainty from the hotel staff (or so they said).

Truth is, if a nuke is heading straight for you there is nowhere to go, nothing to do and even if there were, you couldn't implement it in 15 minutes, anyway.

I'm actually very conscious about these kinds of mistakes, as I'm working with a team to re-vamp Alberta's Emergency Alert system. Connecting the end points that are located in TV stations, over road signage, and Cell Phone Towers, the devices that cut into regular transmissions to broadcast the alerts, are kind of tricky. You don't want to connect a real device to your test network! I think it would be a bad day if I sent a test alert to the test cell phone, and I ended up getting it on my regular phone.
