They arrested the dickheads in a bar. Would you go to keep drinking after you just beat somebody to death? Maybe they'll get a stiff sentence because the guy died. But if he was just severely injured they would get off lightly because it's just seen as a fight among men. And, there's the problem of who actually landed the fatal blows. Wouldn't be the first time somebody got off or a light sentence because of that.

According to the news reports, it was three on two. The two tried to walk away.

During the fight one of the two went down and the three continued to attack.
That's how it was worded, so I'm assuming that means they put the boots to him. The attack continued until a passer by got in there and broke it up.

Doesn't really sound to me like the three had anything to be stressed about.
