this is just posturing, when it comes to federal law, they have no choice. This is just more of the opposition for the sake of it.

For all those clowns that don't support the new laws, explain to me why over the last decade EVERY province has been complaining about the 'revolving door' of the justice system?

Criminals on parole killing, rape, etc etc, ask the police how they feel about arresting the same asshole for the same or very similar offence week after week (aka drugs). I get sick and tired of hearing how another person was killed, attacked etc by a person on parole, how many times do you want to put the public at risk for the sake of a serious (and more often REPEAT) offender??

Sorry, it's time for some stiffening up, we have half a century of evidence that sometimes you just can't rehabilitate. It's all fine and dandy to scream mercy on criminals UNTIL a convicted criminal commits a serious crime against your own family!

While I don't agree that they should be allowed to 'opt out', so to speak, he does make some good points.

Jean-Marc Fournier, testifying at the House of Commons justice and human rights committee, said Bill C-10 will wind up causing more crime, not less, because it is an unbalanced piece of legislation that doesn't focus enough on the rehabilitation of criminals, particularly young offenders.

He said the legislation is meant to put more people in jail and that will result in higher recidivism rates unless more is done to get at the root causes of criminality and to successfully reintegrate offenders into society so they can go on to lead productive lives.
