$1:
"There were a lot of high-school kids and people from out of town," she said. "Yes, there was people from Fanshawe there, but that doesn't speak for all of us. I would never set something on fire for fun. I don't see the point of that."

And she would know this how?

Someone should Check what the Police Chief is smoking. Wanting rioters to turn themselves in. If anything he should check with Vancouver to see how well that one worked out.

BTW anybody know were all those innocent bystandards from Vancouver's riot were on St Paddy's Day?

Some in Vancouver did turn themselves in - in part because they'd been outed on video anyway. Don't they have videos in London or are people getting smart enough to not post them? Still, the TV crews were capturing some of those dickheads in Vancouver, as well as bystanders who filmed it (is that still the right word?) and posted it. And in Vancouver, some people came from as far away as the Gulf Islands and took part in the riot, as well as the burbs like Surrey. It wasn't just Vancouverites, and I'm sure in this case it wasn't just locals either. The diff is in London they didn't have the Skytrain to deliver these pukes to downtown the way they did in Vancouver, with the police not smart enough to stop it. They've promised they'll do better next time tho. Just like after the 94 riot they said they'd learned their lesson.

Actually Fanshawe is in the East end of London and the riots happened North of the campus so no one had to be smart enough to cut transportation.

Anyhow I heard on the news today that they are asking anyone involved to to turn themselves in though Fanshawe is going to suspend any of their students even charged with anything related to the incident. There does not seem to be much or any video evidence available as far as I know.

ROTFL Co-operation does not seem likely.

Just heard on CBC Radio news that Fanshawe has suspended 8 students as of now.

Probably the only 8 kids who turned themselves in. XD

So far. I heard the London Police Chief on the radio earlier saying there would be more arrests based on videos that were clear enough for identification. Some of those are going to be non Fanshawe students though.

Still with 1000 people involved this is not exactly a cleanup.

Tricks Tricks:

Got ya. I was going from a couple of news stories. I don't suppose they are going to refer me to You tube, are they?

No, but you could have spent the 4.5 seconds it took to search that.

Why is Fanshawe only suspending them? Expel the lot of em.

My read of this (via the Globe and Mail) is that charges equal suspension, conviction equals expulsion.

Realistically if charges are not cleared rather quickly you may have well been expelled.

Go through twitter and facebook, find anyone saying the took part, and expel them. Not all that hard to do.

We thought our street parties in the Huron/Talbot ghetto were pretty wild back in the days when I was at UWO. We only rarely had the cops show up. Glad I'm not about to go looking for a job with a Fanshawe Diploma to wave around to employers. Good luck, dummies. You might as well go down to the registrar's office tomorrow and transfer to another college, 'cause these dickheads just made every Fanshaw diploma a worthless piece of shit.

This has been a long term problem for London. All the 'community' projects have lacked teeth and as a consequence dis-order is the status quo in that part of town.

It's pretty famous as a problem. Like any other crime hotspot, police and politicians are reluctant to meet force with force. The media default to anti-police mode at the slightest hint of force being used, what do guys expect the cops to do?

You get the legal system you deserve. This won't be the last riot from Fanshawe.

R=UP

Exactly right. That same area has had a crack down before and people flip out about it. And Fanshawe is known for this kind of crap.

Which is why it's always been known as "Funshawe".
