Congratulatons Subby, you're another Canadian First.

Although, given his rank I really can't see the information he stole and passed along as being of any great value.

With that being said I wait with bated breath for this mouth breathers excuse as to why he did it, and for what it's worth, it's taken all my restraint to refrain from making some snide comment about the quality of certain members of the Wardroom in todays Navy.

All I have to say is Private Bradley Manning.

Oh, that and the probability that the 'unknown country' in this case is likely to be China.

Can't remember where I read it, but I did read the Russia was actually the main suspect.

I believe you are correct but we both know that sentence will never happen. I bet even if found guilty he does no more than a couple of years tops.

I think we also have to be at war for the death penalty to be an option in a treason conviction. That's why they added this 'foreign entity' bit to the Code

I'd be surprised if it was Russia. The Russkies are more into industrial secrets these days while China is focused on military secrets. China's interest in the navy is not a surprise because they're trying to figure out how to be a blue water navy, something at which the RCN has near a century of experience.

Too bad we don't have yardarms anymore. A 40 year old subbie? Could be suffering from "passed-over" disease. I suspect China too.

Or an NCM CFR. I hope not.

I have to say that the first thing I thought of here was Russia as well. With the Russians questioning our claims to the North Pole, I think they're the ones behind it.

China would be second on my list.

Depending on where he was in his training, he would definitely have access to valuable info.

I was under the impression that when you went Officer from the ranks you had to be a P1 or above and were usually made a Lieutenant, although that may just be LDO that i'm thinking about.

But all that aside, they should just hang the prick and be done with it. If this guy was 40 years old and still a Subbie or just made a Subbie, maybe we should be dishonourably discharging the supervisors who wrote his PER's.
