I remember being in Brandon, and the German troops from Shilo going down 18th street with some of their armour. I had to wonder what some of the old vets were thinking seeing those big monsters with the iron crosses painted on them.
In our local Legion, we had a lot of WWII vets, both Canadian and a few English and a few German. The German vets were treated with respect, but usually ended up buying the first round.

They may have lost, but the Allied vets never doubted the German patriotism nor their professionalism.
